Is it furniture or is it art?
The piece as a whole is functional and comfortable but there is another place your eye goes to feast. Each piece of furniture has its own distinct personality created by design, texture and color…no two are exactly the same yet they can marry in numbers, as in a set of chairs. Surface is where the magic happens. Color is where the imagination plays.

Attention chairs!
Chair world is where I have been for the last couple of weeks. The simple plank bottom chairs adorn 4 coats of paint and some rather intricate brushwork. They all look fresh and clean like new neighbors who aren’t aware of what is about to occur. After administering knives, rocks and various other tools of the trade, the chairs start to appear as old relatives rather than new neighbors. They exhibit a patina, a worldliness, a comfort not only for sitting but visiting with. That is the beauty of distressed finishes.
